By Erman Sadin

Erman Sadin, born in Solok, West Sumatra on 22 December 1952, is yet another Indonesian artist who received his education from the ASRI Art Academy, Yogyakarta. His choice of objects and themes in his paintings is a constantly evolving process. In 1992, Erman Sardin focused on painting humans, capturing a flawless likeness of our species. Meanwhile, in a prior exhibition, he emphasizes on the theme of peace, using doves as the main objects of his work. This painting, called "The Sleeping Lady," is one of Erman Sadin's human-focused work. That being said, while the objects of his artwork often change with the times, Erman Sadin is a well-known portrait painter, having painted important figures both nationally and internationally. Among them are Nguyen Co Thach, Lee Kuan Yew, Tien Soeharto, and Soepardjo Rustam. Erman Sadin's accuracy in capturing proportions and body anatomy is near perfect, so it comes to no wonder that many have entrusted him to paint their likeness.
