SUNFLOWER
Men Sagan is a painter who continues the legacy of Affandi, a famed Indonesian painter. The artist received tutelage from Affandi in Bali in 1969. Sometimes people would mistake Men Sagan's work for Affandi's, as they possess a very similar style. The same goes for this painting titled "Sunflower."
The sunflower is one of the most common flowers in the world. Its unique shape is easily identifiable. Helianthus Annuus, or so the flower is called in Latin, is not only pleasant in the eyes, but it is also beneficial to the body. The oil that comes from its seed can be made into skincare and beauty products. The flower has also been the inspiration of many paintings, including that of the world-famous painter, Vincent van Gogh.
