The Statue of Sang Hyang Anantaboga
Every culture has its unique perception of dragons. In the world of Javanese wayang, there exists a revered dragon named Sang Hyang Batara Anantaboga. A descendant of the gods, Anantaboga is gifted with mighty powers. His parents are the Goddess Wasu and Anantanaga. He commonly takes the form of a man, but when he does Triwikrama (form change), he turns into a long oriental dragon with a lush head of hair and a crown nestled upon it.
Anantaboga is the guardian and holder of the earth. When he moves, he creates earthquakes. His might is such that he needs only a small portion of his powers to conquer his enemies. Just a lick of his tongue is enough to kill any opponent that comes his way. Whenever the earth suffers from great destruction, Anantaboga, as its ever-loyal guardian, resurfaces from the depth of his lair.
