Andi Suandi, born in Jakarta on August 8th, 1966, is an abstractionist painter. His artworks have been showcased in both solo and joint exhibitions. He was one of the artists that participated in "Ieu Kula: Mata Bathin Banten" at the National Gallery of Indonesia. From 2004 to 2007, Andi Suandi was the president of Jakarta Contemporary Painter Asociation (JCPO). He learned his craft from his time studying at Institut Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (IKIP) which is now known as Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ). Not only did he take art classes, but he was also involved in Sanggar Gelanggang Remaja Planet Senen. A 'sanggar' is a community-based studio where one can learn many forms of art (painting, dancing, and many more) and exchange thoughts as well as knowledge on a particular topic or activity.
